In our classic ESL 20 program, you will take classes that cover Grammar, Reading/Writing and Listening/Speaking. These three classes cover the three most important aspects of the English language. With our talented team of teachers, you will build a strong foundation of English which will serve you well in your future endeavours.

At Target International Student Center, we know that while grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills are very important to any student, there are other aspects of languages that must also be explored.  Our electives will allow students to complement their core skills with a variety of useful and essential practices.For a complete list of our available electives, please contact our school at info@tisc.edu.

ESL 12  is the second of our flexible programs for those students who cannot commit to our classes full time.  In this program, students can choose two of our subjects (Grammar, Reading/Writing, or Listening/Speaking) and pursue them with our teachers.

Level Breakdown

At Target ISC, we have developed a level system that will allow all students, from beginners to advanced, to be placed in a class that best reflects their level and allows them to effectively learn.

Here is an overview for each level.

At this level you will be introduced to the basics of the English language and practice it with our teachers and classmates. Here are some things that are covered in this level

  • Become familiar with Present, Past and Future Simple conjugation.
  • Learn how to form Yes/No questions and Wh- questions.
  • Get familiar with building simple sentences.
  • Build your vocabulary with various readings and exercises.
  • Practice forming simple conversations

At this level you will be building on your existing English and learn more advanced topics such as:

  • Present, Future and Past Progressive.
  • Use of Modals of Necessity, Ability and suggestion.
  • Start to practice writing paragraphs to express yourself.
  • Practice your reading comprehension with a variety of articles
  • Further practice speaking English with a variety of activities such as conversations, debates, and discussions.

Here you will further strengthen your English skills and tackle new topics such as:

  • Getting to grips with the present perfect and the present perfect progressive.
  • Learning how to use gerunds and subjects and objects.
  • Practicing how to write opinion, descriptive and summative paragraphs.
  • Identifying main ideas and establishing cause-effect relationships in your writing
  • Expressing and defending your opinions
  • Participating in discussions on various topics such as: advertising, business, ecology, and many more

At this level, you will be reinforcing your previously acquired skills along with the introduction of high-level concepts:

  • Introduce to adjective clauses, both subject relative and object relative.
  • Different types of conditionals: present real, future real, present/future unreal and past unreal.
  • Develop writing skills through practicing the class 5 paragraph essay structure
  • Learn new paragraph styles like compare & contrast and cause & effect essays
  • Asking clarifying the opinions and ideas of others as part of discussing ideas
  • Showing agreement/disagreement and supporting your arguments with logic and facts

At this level you will be more focused on reviewing what you have learned before in order to polish and perfect your skills as well as tackle a few new concepts:

  • Complete review of all English forms of conjugation (Simple, Progressive, Perfect and Conditional)
  • Exploring the different types of clauses (noun, verb, adjective and adverb) and their uses
  • Looking at additional types of essay such as descriptive, narrative and cause-effect
  • Further strengthening your 5 paragraph writing skills
  • Researching and presenting a variety of topics related to biology, business, ecology and many more
  • Taking part in group debates and team based activities
